On January 10 in the Gori district, a Baku-Batumi cargo train transporting oil went up in flames as two tank wagons were set on fire. On January 18, also in the Gori district, plotters tried to drill a hole in the Georgian section of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline to pump oil, but failed. In Kyrgyzstan, there are at present 20510 secondary schools, in which nearly 1,2 million students are being educated. There are 416 kindergartens, 121 out-of-school education centers and 59 boarding schools. Immediately after the elections, the opposition parties announced their disagreement with the conduct of the voting process and have called for mass protests. Demirchian, himself, has said that he would appeal to the Constitutional Court for annulment of results. President Saparmurad Niyazov escaped an assassination attempt on his life on November 25, 2002. Gunfire was fired on his motorcade, but the president did not notice it until he was informed about it at his palace.
