ADB APPROVES NEW LOAN FOR UZBEKISTAN

The Asian Development Bank announced on 3 May that it has approved a $38 million loan to Uzbekistan to help finance improvements to drinking-water supplies and sanitation in Khorezm Oblast and Karakalpakstan. Both regions were badly affected by drought in 2000 and 2001. (RFE/RL) .
