OPERATION IN EAST CHECHNYA TO CONTINUE - ACTING MINISTER

The operation in the highlands of eastern Chechnya will go on until all the militants detected in the area are dead, acting Chechen Interior Minister Ruslan Alkhanov told Interfax on Thursday. Sizable forces are searching the forest at the junction of Nozhai- Yurt, Kurchaloi and Gudermes districts, he said. The operation has produced results, Alkhanov said.

Sizable forces are searching the forest at the junction of Nozhai- Yurt, Kurchaloi and Gudermes districts, he said. The operation has produced results, Alkhanov said. Two militant bases were found in the forest, where their wounded recovered and arms, ammunition and food were stored, he said. About 25 militants have been killed in clashes, he said. (Interfax)
