EUROPEAN COMMISSION PROVIDES FOOD SAFETY AID TO KYRGYZSTAN

The European Commission will allocate EUR9.5m (over $11.2m) to Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the Food Safety program.
The European Commission will allocate EUR9.5m (over $11.2m) to Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the Food Safety program. A memorandum on a procedure for the management and use of funds in accordance with the Food Safety program was signed by representatives of the European Commission and the government of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek yesterday. About 60 percent of the funds will be allocated to the Labor and Social Protection Ministry of Kyrgyzstan for the provision of child benefits and one time grants, as well as for supporting families with low incomes and serving meals for students of boarding schools and professional colleges. The rest of the money will be allocated for agricultural programs and improvement of the balance of payments. (RBC)
