USA, LATVIA BIGGEST TAJIKISTAN AID DONORS

Tajikistan received 35.6m dollars in aid from 28 countries in the first four months of this year, according to the State Statistics Committee. The biggest donor was the USA (almost 49 per cent of the total), followed by Latvia (21.2 per cent) and Kazakhstan (8.5 per cent), the committee said on 19 May.More than 81,000 tonnes of flour and wheat, 5,500 tonnes of vegetable oil and other food products, as well as medical equipment and medications – all in all, 99,900 tonnes of humanitarian aid - arrived in the republic to help the population of drought-stricken regions and low-income families.
