U.S. Ambassador Franklin Huddle presented US $1.34 million worth of military uniforms on Thursday to Tajikistan, a Central Asian ally in the war on terror. The total amount of U.S. military assistance to the impoverished former Soviet republic this year will equal US$4 million, according to the Tajik Defense Ministry. Pentagon specialists will build a bridge over the Pyandzh River that forms part of the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. A significant portion of the bridge\'s construction will be financed by the State Department, the U.S. Embassy said. The United States has also delivered $700,000 worth of medicine to one of the hospitals in the Tajik capital Dushanbe through the humanitarian group HOPE.
