KYRGYZ NATIONAL BANK HEAD PLACED UNDER HOUSE ARREST

Kyrgyz National Bank Chairman Ulan Sarbanov has been placed under house arrest. \"The Prosecutor General\'s Office issued a decree regarding National Bank head Ulan Sarbanov on September 2,\" Prosecutor General\'s Office spokesman Sumar Nasiza told Interfax on Friday. \"This decision was made as part of the criminal case opened to look into steps by the National Bank head to hand over more than $400,000 to Kyrgyzstan\'s ex-president Askar Akayev in 1999,\" he said.
