The Center on Economic Research (CER) was
established in Uzbekistan in 1998 as an independent research institution to support the
process of economic transformation. It offers policy advice to the government on key
issues of economic and social policy, supporting the process of national construction in
the areas of public economic management, policy analysis and human development. The Center
is a unique institution in Uzbekistan having a highly qualified staff of economists and
administrators proficient in English. The staff has solid background as most staff members
were trained in advanced macroeconomics abroad. The Center maintains close relations with
international financial institutions as well as with government counterparts.

The Center renders research services in macroeconomic policy research and other
relevant areas. It provides administrative support for conducting various types of surveys
and polls in Uzbekistan, receives study missions, and arranges meetings with relevant
government institutions, international agencies and NGOs located in Uzbekistan. The staff
of the Center also arranges all aspects of publication of socio-economic related texts.
The Center’s publication department provides high-quality services in editing,
translation, layout, photography as well as the design of books, booklets and magazines.

Recently, the Center published a collection of conference papers presented at the
"Central Asia 2010" Conference it translated into Russian. This conference on
the prospects of human development was organized by UNDP and held in Almaty, Kazakhstan in
1999. The work was subcontracted to the Center by the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and
CIS, and successfully accomplished according to the requirements of the United Nations. It
is noteworthy that the Center is responsible for the preparation and publication of the
annual United Nations edition of the Uzbekistan National Human Development Report. So far
five issues of the report have been published and work on National Human Development
Report -2000 is underway.

The Center publishes a journal entitled the "Uzbekistan Economic Review",
that is the best publication in Uzbekistan as far as the quality and printing are
concerned. All top government officials subscribe to the journal. It is circulated
throughout Uzbekistan and the region. The creation of the Center’s Web-site HREF="http://209.185.131.251/cgi-bin/linkrd?_lang=&lah=d03f96d5729d165b4bb6454842a644a4&lat=951143770&hm___action=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ecer%2euz%2f">www.cer.uz
has considerably enlarged access to the Center’s range of reports, publications and
materials, as well as statistical data bases. Given such broad experience, the Center is
exceptionally well qualified in the multidisciplinary fields of socio-economic research,
